WOOD VENEER
As a wood substitute that can be costly, wood veneers are thin sheets of wood with a thickness of 0.24 mm to 3 mm. They are produced from solid wooden planks that are cut using a slicing or rotary machine.
This material can be sanded and painted. Widely used local wood veneers include Mahogany, Mindy, Nyatoh, Poplar, Meranti, and Sungkai.

VENEER GRAIN
Veneer grain is what you see when slicing through a tree’s growth rings. Each veneer’s unique visual characteristics depends on the angle the wood is sliced. Whether it is a traditional crown cut style or a more contemporary quarter cut style, every grain range we provide is aesthetically pleasing for your door.

CROWN CUT
Crown cut is when the timber is sliced parallel to the growth of rings.
QUARTER CUT
Quarter Cut is when the timber is sliced at the right angles to the growth rings and the result is a straight line pattern.
HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE (HPL)
High Pressure Laminate, or HPL, is a plastic laminate derivative. It is one of the most durable decorative surface materials and is available with special performance properties including chemicals, fire and wear resistance. Special type HPL can be formed around the curved edges with heat resistant applications.
CORE MATERIAL
As a central to door’s structure, wood door core plays an important key in setting the durability and general quality. Each core type has benefits, characters, and specific applications where they are recommended or required to be used. It can also greatly affect the cost of the wood doors on your project. Below are the details of each core type we have at Heartwood & Sons and some of their benefits.
HONEYCOMB
The main benefits of honeycomb core are it is low cost and light weighted. It is mainly due to its natural structure with a geometry similar to a honeycomb, leading to the efficient use of the material. While maintaining its flat and strong stance, though it cannot reduce noises significantly, Honeycomb core is typically used for economical internal door for homes and or offices.
SENGON
The proper filler construction of the Sengon or Falcata is critical for its performance in withstanding high humidity variations and a lot of pressure in daily movement as an internal door. A good Sengon core is made with three layers of core board, with the outer layer is wood grain that is placed parallel, and the layer between them is cross-grained, making it durable and long lasting.
FJL HARDWOOD
Finger Joint Laminate (FJL) Hardwood core is produced by finger jointing hardwood, providing additional strength and stability. It is typically used for external doors and fire-rated doors. Our process begins with a tongue and groove connection. The construction process is fast and easy. The greater the number of ‘tongue and groove’ joint lines, the wider the glued surface area, and the stronger its construction.
FINISHING PU (POLYURETHANE)
Polyurethane is widely recognized as one of the finest finishing materials, which is extremely strong and easy to apply. This finishing involves applying a PU chemical liquid to the surface of the wooden door, and a drying process that is carried out with liquid chemicals that evaporate quickly. This type of PU finishing is known to be more durable than other types as it produces a thicker film layer.
PU Natural
The wood grain appear natural, without paint or any type of colouring.
PU Stain
The colouring layer is thin, so the grain is still visible.
PU Duco
A thick layer of paint covers the whole surface, so no grain is visible.
